Funny New Years Quotes, Smarter New Years Resolution Tips - Cheeky Quote Day! 30 Dec 2009

From Denny: It is a rather amusing observation of humanity that we are a bundle of paradoxes and contradictions, shifting so often, sometimes, that it can be so swift as to exist on an hourly basis.

Editorial Cartoons 26 Dec 2009

From Denny: Health care reform passed - but what did we actually get for all the effort? The Republicans demanded everything, gave nothing and none voted for the bill. It isn't until 2014 that everything is phased in like insurance companies cannot deny coverage for pre-existing conditions. So, what are people supposed to do meanwhile for the next four years? There is a lot that stinks about this bill. There will be fines for those refusing to sign up for coverage yet there is no public option cost effective competing plan to hold the line against the insurance industry.

What this is looking like is that the insurance companies have structured the next four years as a way to collect gargantuan amounts of money to pay for the folks with pre-existing conditions when the companies are forced to accept them by 2014.

Fortunately, when next Congress meets they will be merging the House and Senate bills where some magic might happen: there are those proponents who will be pushing to reinstate the public option.

Tiger Woods is still in the news as far as the cartoonists are concerned and the New Year cartoons are beginning to pop up too! :)

Kid Creates Pet Food Bank 4 Economic Crisis

From Denny: This has to be one proud mother of this nine-year-old boy named Zach Wilson in Central Florida whose passion to help animals created this animal food bank! This year of 2009 has been a troubled one for Americans, losing jobs, losing homes and forced to lose their pets because they can no longer afford to feed them. Tough choices all around.

Zach saw on the news that over 53,000 people in Florida had lost their homes this year and abandoned their pets as a result of job and home losses. So, he decided maybe people would keep their pets if they had help feeding them. It turned out to be a fabulous idea, well embraced by the charitable givers and those in need in his area. His idea has expanded across the nation to help other pets about to be abandoned by their desperate owners. Take a look:

Wall Street Excess, Climate Change: Editorial Cartoons 19 Dec 2009

From Denny: Both the American people and the cartoonists are equally disgusted with the politicians over getting us affordable smart health care and the foolish squabbling at the climate change conference. And this is why when there is a huge global disaster it will be "every man for himself."

You sure can't count on all those other self-protective egos like China to get focused upon physical survival and their fellow humanity's as well. Then there are the developing countries insanely expecting the developed countries and America to single-handedly pay for everything for them to help with their dirty emissions. We can't pay for ourselves right now; how are we to pay for them too?

The cartoonists continue to batter away at Prez Obama's Peace Prize incongruity of being at War yet recognized for Peace. Palin, her ridiculous self, has, for now, thankfully, evaporated off the national stage.

Take a look at this week's cartoonist offerings:

Health care reform shell game because nobody knows what's in the bill from moment to moment:
