From Denny: It appears some conservatives have awakened to getting rid of Rush Limbaugh. OK, actually it's really about boycotts and their profits they don't want to lose. Those darn liberals were just too effective at putting pressure on the advertisers. :)
One of the largest radio markets in the country is Philadelphia, the "city of brotherly love." The dominant conservative talk radio station there, WPHT, an AM station, has jettisoned "The Rush Limbaugh Show" in favor of a native son, "The Michael Smerconish Show." Normally, Smerconish's show is time-delayed but with the removal of Limbaugh, Smerconish can now broadcast live in his home market.
You might recognize Smerconish from his guest hosting of Chris Matthews' Hardball show. I like the guy immensely as he is of agile mind and a balanced moderate opinion, you know, most of America. Matthews could retire and Smerconish would make a great sequel.
Premiere Radio Networks has not given a precise date for the change to take place. They plan to move Limbaugh to WKDN, a Christian programming FM station that will be revamped into a news-talk station.
Can you imagine Limbaugh's foul mouth on a Christian station? This can mean only one thing: to finish out his contract they are moving him around, hoping for him to find a new home to stink up. Christian women will not tolerate his ugly attitude toward themselves, their daughters and their mothers. So, don't expect him to last long over there as they will give him his walking papers.
Of course, to save face, Premiere Radio Networks that syndicates Limbaugh's show, claim this sudden move has absolutely nothing to do with the Slut Gate episode and ensuing boycott from men and women across the nation. Limbaugh relentlessly attacked Sandra Fluke with over 50 slurs for days on his three-hour show.
Fluke is a Georgetown University law school student that testified before Congress in favor of women's reproductive rights. It was a special hearing organized by Speaker Nancy Pelosi when Fluke and other women were shut out of the House hearing run by the Republicans.
Since Monday of this week, "The Mike Huckabee Show" started airing nationally in Limbaugh's noon to 3 PM time slot. Huckabee is considered less offensive and not of foul mouth even though he is a more moderate conservative, a former minister.
Conservatism is on the wane. Sounds good. Long live the moderates and liberals. Looks like this will turn out to be a stellar weekend as I bask in the glow of a downward spiralling Limbaugh. Yeah, the Vaginas win after all.
