From Denny:  Now if everyone in politics and every CEO in Big Business would read this, think how much people would quit hating their jobs, their bosses and their politicians!

Beautiful Illustrated Quotations: 3 Joy Quotes: How Does Practicing JOY Bring Order and Harmony Into Your Life? Also, Joy Contagious Lip-Syncing Cop Viral Video: From Denny:  Have you ever noticed that when you are filled with Joy that your whole world is suddenly harmonious and everything just falls into place?  Joy is contagious too.  When you feel good, everyone around you feels good too!

While not everyone is called to enter into the decades long rigorous training to become a mystic for the benefit of humanity, a lot can be learned and practiced in everyday life to better enjoy life's journey.  Practicing Joy is practicing healthy spirituality, regardless of religion or no specific religious preferences at all.

Joy is a central principle for the human spirit.  Joy sustains us through life's sorrows   and disappointments.  Joy acts as a counter balance while climbing out of depression or grief, dealing with past trauma and the ensuing PTSD, keeping us from sinking down further into negative emotions and thoughts.  Joy is important to safeguard not just our mental, emotional and spiritual health but it has a direct positive benefit upon our physical health too.

Adults often develop habits that steer away from Joy.  Babies laugh hundreds of times a day.  How much have you laughed out loud today?  How much have you laughed in the past month?  Do you find your world crumbling around you, feeling out of sorts and grumpy, thinking limiting thoughts, focused upon how little is going your way? ... read more

POW Bowe Bergdahl: 8,000 Afghan-Iraq War Deserters. Why Is America Attacking THIS One?

U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Berghdal is pictured in this undated handout photo provided by the U.S. Army and received by Reuters on May 31, 2014. REUTERS/U.S. Army/Handout via Reuters

From Denny:  Maybe the headline should be:  "Do Terrorists Win?  The Perplexing Vicious Bullying of POW Bowe Bergdahl."  For almost two months I've been working to write this post but have found myself shocked, dismayed, downright apoplectic - and practically speechless - at the savage, malicious, downright evil attacks against Bowe Bergdahl.  So much for the loyalty to the American philosophy of "Leave No One Behind."  In this case it should read: "Leave No One Behind Unless It's Convenient To Use Them For Political Advantage [2016 election] And Avoid Prosecution For War Crimes."

Yes, I am still that furious at the attackers of a returning POW who experienced pure Hell for a very long five years.  So, I took a serious time out to watch before commenting to see how things played out since I knew it was the political hacks - and - highly suspect - most likely some very guilty platoon mates from Bergdahl's outfit - who were driving these attacks...

WTF? Daily Show Rats Out Pentagon Denying PTSD Help 40 Years: Insulting Vietnam Vets

English: Cases of PTSD and Severe Depression A...
English: Cases of PTSD and Severe Depression Among U.S. Veterans Deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan Between Oct 2001 and Oct 2007 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

From Denny:  It's gotten to the point in America that the only way military veterans can get the help they need is to take to the airwaves, especially comedy shows, to inform the public and put pressure on Pentagon officials and politicians.

These two Vietnam War era veterans are interviewed on the Daily Show, revealing how absolutely ridiculous is the "leadership" at the Pentagon.  Is it any wonder we have the pompous a$$e$ installed at the helm of the NSA and its ensuing outrageous mass global surveillance for the past two administrations?

At the center of these vets' 40 year struggle is an idiot decision made by some long retired seriously idiotic general that on a whim declared that anyone suffering from what is now called PTSD will get a dishonorable discharge.  If a veteran is tagged with a dishonorable discharge then he or she is not allowed to receive any mental health help at all ever.

Forget the fact these veterans served their country?  Maybe the Pentagon forgets once they've used them for cannon fodder, discarding them like a piece of trash.  People like you and me, well, we don't forget.  Nor will we forgive the Pentagon if they don't get off their seriously lazy a$$e$ and start doing the honorable thing:  upgrade all of these Vietnam veterans from dishonorable discharges to honorable discharges so they can finally get the help they have long needed for 40 years running.

This President finally did install a soldiers' Sec. of Defense in the form of Chuck Hagel.  Hagel has done a good job of pressuring the Pentagon to properly coordinate with the Veterans Affairs to speed up help for veterans of all the other wars past and current.  There are still about 400,000 veterans awaiting help but at least the numbers are declining at a steady pace, according to veterans' advocates.

So, now it's up to Sec. Hagel to shake the lazy Pentagon tree yet again and get this idiot military practice reversed or abolished in time to help out all these Vietnam vets in dire need before they die off.  A refusal to help these Vietnam vets with mental health issues explains why there are still so many homeless Vietnam vets all these decades later.

ptsd018001

Come on, guys, 40 years?  And you still refuse to do nothing about the problem?  I'd like to know just what the hell I'm getting out of these military "leaders" that justifies my taxpayer dollars and them receiving a fat cat pension of $200,000 when they retire.  Now, that's one sweet deal, isn't it?  Wouldn't you like to retire at full pay too?  Who wouldn't?  Of course, this is another military practice that should be reversed too.  Hagel can address that later.

Right now it's past due time to help the Vietnam veterans get the PTSD help they have long needed.  This is a national outrage and disgrace.  Address it now.  I have lost patience with this entire Pentagon for being so damned cavalier, willing to allow thousands to suffer needlessly when it was easily within our power to right the ship and do the right thing immediately.

Check out the Daily Show interview and what the veterans themselves have to say about the problem.  Then storm the office of your idiot cheatin' Congress and push them off point to do what's right to help these veterans...

Govt Shutdown: Venzuelan Chicago Marathon Runner Delivers True Grit Congress Does Not

chicagomarathonfnisher.jpg

From Denny:  As the government shutdown has rippled through the global economy for two weeks now, anger is growing exponentially.  There really is nothing worse than selfishness and greed taken to the level of excess, rudeness and insensitivity to the plight of your neighbors.

To not take into consideration how the lives of others would be harmed by the political action of closing a huge government like America displays the height of hubris on steroids.  There will be repercussions come election day.  The American public will not just move on and forget how they and their families got screwed over by national politicians on a joy ride at our expense.

Veterans Affairs Claims Logjam: Should Prez Obama Declare National Emergency?

Veteran Suicide Rate

From Denny:  There's a wonderful reason my husband is nicknamed "Satan" at our house.  Most times it's because he specializes in being the most annoying irritating person on the planet because it's his idea of fun when he gets bored - while he is the only person laughing. There are those times when Home "Satan" comes up with a wickedly good idea. "Satan" proposed it is past due time for President Obama to issue an executive order to declare a temporary suspension of all federal workers' rights and pay who work in the Veterans Affairs Administration until the claims logjam is accomplished.

Shocking, isn't it?  What's more shocking is how many veterans are committing suicide as a result of the VA falling down on the job.  Let the unions and the courts sort it out later.  As President, Mr. Obama should bring this call to action to pierce the logjam with a motivation for workers to keep their jobs.

That's right; until the almost one million claims logjam is truly quickly processed then it's time for the workers to feel the same pain.  Because of their ineptitude, laziness, poor leadership at the top and/or middle management, lack of proper resources and/or all of the preceding reasons and excuses the end result is that thousands of veterans are committing suicide each year because they cannot get the help America promised them.

This health care hell travesty is killing military morale.  Friends and family of veterans are angry.  Fellow soldiers are angry and resentful their friends are receiving this disrespectful treatment in their hour of need.  This cannot continue with the Pentagon sitting on their hands yet again.

Jon Stewart Hammers Vet Affairs Failing to Break 1 Million Claims Logjam

Veteran Suicide Rate

3 video clips from The Daily Show

From Denny:  While other equally pressing news stories push to the front of the public's attention - like Israel attacking idiot terrorist-supporting Syria and the tragic Boston marathon bombing by less experienced terrorists - the very soldiers who fought America's terrorism wars are told to wait for help by the Dept. of Veterans Affairs.

Granted the VA does process around one million claims a year, all this while in the midst of trying to change over from an outdated dinosaur 1970's paper culture and advance into the digital age.  Currently, they are looking at another two years before believing they will have arrived in said digital age.  Let's get real; multiple that by ten and the estimate might be near accurate.

The Whole Truth, Funny Jon Stewart On VP Joe Bidens Wall Street Financial Slavery Speech

English: Joe Biden, Vice President of the Unit...
English: Joe Biden, Vice President of the United States. Svenska: Joe Biden, amerikansk vicepresident. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
From Denny:  Me thinks the conservative media doth protest too much.  Yep, they sure are laying it on thick for VP Papa Joe Biden's accurate comment about how the middle and working classes are chained into financial slavery because of the Big Banks and Big Business corporations that are clearly still out of control.

Since this is a nasty presidential campaign where all name-calling and outright lying is utilized by the GOP campaign in particular, they thought they could win some brownie points going after Affable Joe.

Yeah, like that silly attack stuck.  The man sports a Teflon suit, always has and always will.  He's been that popular with regular people - and Teflon fashionable for decades as a real public servant.

The media that jumps on him are the Lapdog Press - and political strategists - owned outright by the likes of the consummate puppeteers:  greedy billionaires like the Koch Brothers and Fox "News" Rupert Murdock.  Hollow opinions from the disingenuous contain no merit and certainly carry no weight with the voters, especially the elderly that trust Biden on issues like Medicare.

What Obama and Romney Should Be Talking About: These 2 Sick Little Girls

Thank You
The Fish girls:  Alice, left and Natalie, right -  Source:  Fishes For Marrow Wishes-Sisters

From Denny:  It's time to stop the madness along with the childish political campaign bickering.  Americans don't want to hear it anyway.  There are bigger issues at stake like the lives of these two seriously ill little girls from Utah, Natalie and Alice Fish.  In light of what this one American family is enduring should shame all the national politicians who are so self-absorbed they have not stopped long enough to notice.

I'm so disgusted with the 2012 election's childish name-calling tone and enabling media encouraging it that I change the channel constantly.  As a respite yesterday I went up on my page at Google + to catch up on those who friended me.  Lots of really interesting people from all over the world.  I grew up internationally and it's always great fun for me to see who's new that popped into my world.

Good News: Rush Limbaugh Kicked Off Philadelphia Station

Rush Limbaugh - Caricature
Rush Limbaugh - Caricature (Photo credit: DonkeyHotey)

From Denny:  It appears some conservatives have awakened to getting rid of Rush Limbaugh.  OK, actually it's really about boycotts and their profits they don't want to lose. Those darn liberals were just too effective at putting pressure on the advertisers. :)

One of the largest radio markets in the country is Philadelphia, the "city of brotherly love."  The dominant conservative talk radio station there, WPHT, an AM station, has jettisoned "The Rush Limbaugh Show" in favor of a native son, "The Michael Smerconish Show."  Normally, Smerconish's show is time-delayed but with the removal of Limbaugh, Smerconish can now broadcast live in his home market.

You might recognize Smerconish from his guest hosting of Chris Matthews' Hardball show.  I like the guy immensely as he is of agile mind and a balanced moderate opinion, you know, most of America.  Matthews could retire and Smerconish would make a great sequel.

Rush Limbaugh: Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire About Advertisers Status

Rush Limbaugh Cartoon by Ian D. Marsden of mar...
Rush Limbaugh Cartoon by Ian D. Marsden of marsdencartoons.com (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
From Denny:  I'm with Jon Stewart.  Rush Limbaugh just keeps on giving the comedy material, serving it up on a silver platter. His latest gambit is to now challenge the logic about his advertisers' performance since they left his show or if they stayed.

Normal people call it irrational logic, you know, an oxymoron attempt by Rush.  Sometimes, this guy is just too much fun to lampoon.  It's as silly as the research scientists who decided after lengthy study that, "People die six months before or six months after their birthdays."  That stupid study must have been underwritten by Limbaugh.

What he is arguing now is that the advertisers who stayed with his show are increasing their sales but those advertisers who spurned him because of the Slutgate Controversy are failing miserably.  What an insufferable self-centered ego.  He's full of bluster, that's for sure.

Does America's favorite BS Artist know how stupid that sounds?  Better yet, does he offer any proof of his claims?  Of course not.  And that is always the point about Rush Limbaugh.  He never possesses any real hard data or facts to back up his baseless claims for whatever he is "discussing" via monologue.

Obama Speaks To Hate Merchants, Rush Limbaugh Insults To Women

Rush Limbaugh Cartoon by Ian D. Marsden of mar...
Image via Wikipedia

From Denny:  Rush Limbaugh refuses to apologize for "slut, prostitute and whore" comments against American women in general and against Sandra Fluke in particular.  President Obama jumped into the fray, denying Limbaugh any satisfaction, phoning law student Fluke for an encouraging conversation.

Georgetown law student, Sandra Fluke, was prohibited from testifying to a House committee about support of government mandated contraceptive health care coverage.

The Republicans refused to allow any woman to testify unless they chose said woman for the all male religious panel that amounted to a predetermined outcome kangaroo court.  The female politicians in the House were outraged so they held their own hearing for Fluke to testify publicly and honestly without editing from the Republicans preventing her liberty and free speech.

GOP Slut and Pervert Rush Limbaugh Labels ALL Women Sluts

From Denny:  The latest stupidity from the so-called GOP Intellectual Corner comes from talk show host Rush Limbaugh labeling women as sluts and prostitutes for taking birth control.  His current insult is his constant railing against any woman who stands up for her rights.

From his point of view, "How dare women think they are allowed to be first class citizens in their own country?  Why should women be allowed to make their own decisions, especially about birth control?"

OK, that was the polite version.  This guy is as nutty as Glenn Beck that went into a slow motion dive of a psychotic breakdown on TV.  It went on for months.  Must we all be witness to the same losing his mind process of watching Limbaugh implode?  He should be taken off the air and quickly.  His mind is already cooked.

Limbaugh sounds just as ridiculous and as hostile and hating toward women as Glenn Beck.  Why any woman votes Republican is a mystery as she is basically announcing to the world she hates herself and considers herself not worthy to make a decision, whether about her health or her vote.

Prayer Curse: Republicans Call For Obama Death

English: President Barack Obama and the First ...
Image via Wikipedia
From Denny:  From the deviants' corner of the morally reprehensible comes a circulating email from Republican politicians to pray for God to kill President Obama.

These guys are unbelievable.  Just when you think they could not sink any lower on the vile meter, they come up with Bible verses to demand the death of a sitting President.

The real question is this:  But has anyone decided to do a sanity test on these sitting politicians?  Maybe it's time to take matters into our own hands and for the public to demand such a test be performed.  People seem to forget the intense harm that one crazy guy - by the name of Senator McCarthy - did to this country.

McCarthy devastated the careers of many Hollywood actors who refused to name friends as Communists.  Old McCarthy was demanding false witnesses or retribution.  Those who did not participate in his insanity paid some high prices.

Will Geer of "The Waltons" fame is one such actor, though his career did rebound the last years of his life. In order to make a living outside acting during the McCarthy years when Geer was blackballed, he turned to horticulture, becoming a world renowned expert.

What has now come to light many decades later is that McCarthy was suffering from some serious dementia, most likely Alzheimer's.  Yet he went undiagnosed and a nation was in the grips of - and held hostage by - his vicious insanity for years.  Are we really going to allow this toxic political atmosphere to careen out of control yet again and in this generation?

Gabrielle Giffords: New Photos Since Shooting, Looks Great!

Gabby 18 months ago in January 2010

From Denny: This week Gifford's staff put up on her facebook page more recent photos of her. These photos reveal a still vibrant woman with a healthy glow. What is so amazing is she just underwent yet another surgery. This time it was to replace part of her skull that had previously been removed months ago to allow the brain to swell from its injuries.

Good news! Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) is recovering at a rapid rate that astonishes and gladdens her doctors. To those of us - by the millions - who have prayed for her health and well being, this is proof positive how prayer works. Prayer is about giving energy to others when their energy is ebbing or weak. She looks wonderful!

The above photo of her as a blonde was taken 18 months ago in January 2010. The following two photos were taken just recently in June 2011. Her hair has had a chance to grow out a bit from having been shaved for brain surgery months ago. Had it not been for the life-saving measures taken by her aide at the moment of the shooting she would not have been with us today.

Always glad to post some Good News! We wish you many more years of health and happiness, Gabrielle Giffords.

How Do Mothers Fare Around The World?

PRT, ADT women help celebrate Women's Day in Kunar [Image 3 of 3]

*** original post found here at http://thesocialpoets.blogspot.com Photo of International Women's Day celebration in Afghanistan of Women from the Kunar Provincial Reconstruction Team and Iowa National Guard’s 734th Agribusiness Development Team, 8 March, photo by DVIDSHUB @ flickr

From Denny:  The recent Mother's Day celebration does make us wonder how other women fare in the rest of the world. The organization, "Save The Children," conducted a study and ranked the best - and the worst places - in the world to be a mother.

They ranked child and maternal mortality, health care, and education. The disparities were glaring:

Women who die from pregnancy-related causes:

Afghanistan: 1 in 11 women die
Norway: only 1 in 7,600 die

The bottom worst countries ranked:

Children that die before the age of five: 1 out of every 6 children
Women who die of pregnancy-related causes: 1 out of 30 women die
A skilled attendant at birth: fewer than 50 percent
Children who suffer from malnutrition: 1 out of 3 children

How well did America fare in the study? Not that well. We were ranked at 31 out of the 43 developed countries. Considering the state of our expensive health care system and wages driven down to the point people have dropped their health care insurance it's no surprise.

Any good news after these depressing statistics? Yes. Over the past 20 years child deaths have decreased worldwide from a high of 12 million down to now eight million. That's progress.

It's American aid that has helped drive down these numbers by improving the situation for the mothers and children in developing countries.

From Mary Beth Powers, chief of Save the Children's Child Survival Campaign: "The work that we’re doing globally, funded by the US government, is making a difference." Powers says she is worried that America's budget concerns will threaten some of these investments in developing countries and gains in child survival.

Powers says tools are already present to make a difference:

Training front-line health care workers
Training these workers to recognize and treat common childhood diseases
Investing in midwifery schools in developing countries

From Powers: "The hopeful piece of this is that we do know what to do. We’re not racing for a cure, we have the cures in hand."

Last week our State Department announced a new initiative for the world's mothers. It's called the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA). The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has partnered with Johnson & Johnson.

This alliance will focus first on Bangladesh, India, and South Africa. The future plans will involve exploring ways to harness increasing mobile-phone networks and other technology as a means to get more resources and information into the hands of expectant and new mothers.

From Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: "Women in developing countries, some of the women most at risk for pregnancy-related problems, will be able to use their cell phones to get health information via text messages or voice mails, and the information can even be customized for the stage of pregnancy or the age of their children."

Sec. Clinton discussed other improvements in maternal and child health involving the US and UNICEF. The efforts have dramatically contributed to a 30 percent decline in maternal deaths in as many as 19 countries.

"This is one example of where we can really trace US government efforts that have made a difference in the lives of women, babies, and children."

The worst areas of the world for women and children is in sub-Saharan Africa and other developing countries. Yet America is not without problems. We have dropped by three rankings from last year's report. America is behind small poor countries like Croatia, Estonia and Latvia.

What is America's poorest showing in the lifetime risk of maternal mortality? We have the highest maternal mortality of all the industrialized nations at 1 in 2,100. Right here in America a woman is seven times more likely to die of pregnancy-related causes than a woman from Ireland. We are 15 times more likely to die from the same than a woman from Greece. That's outrageous considering our expensive and supposedly great technologically advanced health care system.

How does America fare in children under the age of five mortality rate? Again, it's outrageous where we are ranked at eight out of 1,000 births. We are worse than 40 other countries. Compared to Norway how do we fare? Norway's rate is only three out of 1,000 births.

Women in America get the short end of the stick, performing poorly, in other areas as well compared to other developed countries: preschool enrollment and maternal-leave policy.

From Powers: "We aren’t making the investments that would improve childhood-mortality rates in this country. Our government is considering cutting funding for preschool, and for underserved populations. That’s where these pockets of deaths to mothers and children are happening, in impoverished communities."

Where a woman lives in the world could very well determine her life expectancy and whether she has a good chance of surviving child birth. The discrepancies are hideous indeed.

Norway is at the top of the rankings. There a typical woman can live up to 83 years. She can acquire 18 years of formal education. Only one in 175 women will experience the loss of a child before they turn five years old. Almost every woman can expect a skilled attendant when she is giving birth, helping to ensure her survival.

Sadly, it's Afghanistan that ranks at the bottom of the Save The Children report. An Afghani woman can only expect to experience less than a mere five years of education. The typical Afghani woman is middle-aged at age 25 because she can expect to die before she turns age 45. Only 14 percent have skilled attendants at birth.

And the high rate of children who die before they turn five years old? In Afghanistan you can expect that one out of every five children to die. That means that practically every mother can expect the loss of a child to happen to them.

From Powers: "In Afghanistan, it is still more risky to give birth than ... fighting in Afghanistan."

Write Congress and your President and demand they help the women and children of the world.  Here's the White House contact site.  Here's the House of Representatives site.  Here's the United States Senate site.

Without our continued help those decreasing mortality figures - which we have worked so hard to create - will begin to rise. How can we call ourselves a compassionate nation of moral and religious values if we abandon the vulnerable and helpless?

Choose from world news analysis combined with the best political cartoon opinion, celebrity watching, science and health news, arts, poetry, funny photos, serious photography, funny videos, great satire, awesome food and spiritual thoughts.

From Denny: The world is changing at a dizzying rate the past few weeks with all the political upheaval in the Middle East. This kind of change is good and will end up improving everyone's lives around the world. Thirty years of poor economies and human rights abuses brought it to a head. This change was inevitable. When people feel so desperate they no longer feel they have anything to lose is when people take high risks.

Egypt and Tunisia have been decided and they are in transition to developing new governments. Libya has yet to be decided though defections from the Army and other sectors has Gadhafi increasingly isolated from his former supporters - and enablers.

It's best the West stay out of this turmoil. We don't need to arm the rebels or protect the leader in the process of getting deposed. It is up to the people of Libya to rise up and do the work themselves. If America interferes it takes away their pride of their moment in history. It is not for us to be so paternalistic in attitude toward developing nations. They will learn to grow just as we are also learning to take a hands off approach and trust them to choose well for themselves.

Posts Roundup at Dennys Blogs - 13 Feb 2011

From Denny: What an exciting week it has been with the 18 Day Egypt Revolution, following the twists and turns of real life drama. I'm proud to say I wrote many posts to cover it. The most time consuming was to wade through various English written Egyptian blogs to find out what was going on, what they thought was happening in their own country.

Remember the state controlled the news. You think it's bad in America, try living under martial rule with news black-outs and propaganda. OK, the Republicans do so love to spread their political gospel but at least most Americans know it's all lies. Comics make jest of what the GOP churns out of their "war rooms."

I've started yet another silly blog for interesting people, whatever I find as I find it: Dennys People Watching. Originally, I thought it might be interesting to cover world leaders but then Lady Gaga just had to get some face time. She is my most favorite outrageous person. If she's this cheeky at age 24, can you imagine her at age 50? Sure hope she doesn't burn herself out and become a conservative in her old age.

I also waded through a tremendous number of political cartoons about the Egypt Revolution which, naturally, have proven to be a big hit with the Middle Eastern countries.  I even started posting the Egypt news on The Social Poets rather than Dennys Global Politics because I was concerned anyone from the Middle East or Egypt might be in danger for visiting what the state might perceive as a  mainstream American media site  After all, who would think a poetess would be a political subversive? OK, bring on the political clowns... :)

Posts Roundup at Dennys Blogs - 30 Jan 2011

Posts on astronomy, news, politics, poetry, lots of crazy humor, health and food.

From Denny: The past month I've been busy rounding up what the readers enjoyed throughout the year on all the blogs. It's amazing what people find intriguing - like the crazy humor post about the sloths over at Dennys Funny Quotes. The sloth post has gone past 30,000 views. People just love the cute little guys in the video. It's for a good cause too - a sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica.

What Is Prez Obama Really Thinking? Watch His Hands As He Talks

*** Our body language reveals much about our thoughts, telegraphing it to others if only we learn the language and how to read it.

President Obama's hand gestures

From Denny: Are you right or left hand dominant? President Obama is left hand dominant and when he wants to discuss his favorite things he favors using his left hand to gesture.

Left hand dominant people studied

Scientists have studied the left-hand dominant like the President. Researchers discovered that left-handers tend to favor their left hand when discussing any subject of which they feel positive. Left-handers use their right hand to gesture when they feel negative about a subject. Are you a right-hand dominant? Then the results are the opposite: you use your right hand to gesture when you feel positive and your left hand when you feel negative...

From Denny: This post is number 601 for The Social Poets blog, my first! Woo! Hoo! :) Who knew where blogging would take me - and you - this past year?

I'm finally getting back into regular blog writing. I took a couple of weeks off early in January to slow down the daily writing on 12 blogs for a well deserved rest. Just when I was ready to resume writing the Haiti earthquake hit. Then the three week saga started with trying to find my cousin who had been visiting Haiti at the time of the earthquake disaster - to donate her time as a music teacher. After three weeks she was given a cell phone and talked to her mother and sister.

Of course, as usual, worried family is not so good on details, not thinking like a journalist, and I still don't know her exact location. Sounds like she's in some tent city on some soccer field, recovered from vague details of bad bruising and a not described concussion from falling debris as she ran out of the music school where she was giving a concert. Apparently, one of her students died, though again, no details or name given. She has gathered several of her other students with her - again no names or updates on their status - since they are separated from their parents or may not know the status of their parents.

Well, one detail I know for sure is that my cousin Jeanne will do all she can to help the children around her to keep up their attitudes and play some music for everyone to cheer them as well.

I just wanted to take the time to thank all of you, my subscribers and blogging friends, for checking back on all these blogs for updates on Jeanne and new posts too. Some of the blogs have languished for daily posts. The past week I've worked at getting caught up and created this post for a roundup of posts on all the blogs so you can get caught up easily too. Again, thanks so much for showing up to check out each blog as it's much appreciated!
