More Than Hillary Clinton: Is The Media Ever Going to Get It About How They Promote Fascist Politics in America?

Resuters/James Lawler Duggan

From Denny:  The past few months even I just can't watch Morning Joe, usually a pretty good political show - representing both major parties and views - for which I have much forbearance watching Joe go off and jump up on his usual soapbox for a too long of a monologue. The entire round table are now myopic, living in an echo chamber of gloom and doom, too grumpy, too negative for not good enough reasons, and just plain cranky old men - and one cranky women too influenced by their negativity.  Not very attractive, guys.  They have gotten lost in the weeds with far too much naval gazing on minutiae that the voters have no use for at all.  Grabbed the remote and changed the channel.

Been changing the channel on Hardball, though not as often.  All these shows want to do is show Donald Trump screaming yet some other stupid statement and then talk it to death, beat it back alive enough to catch a few breaths before expiring, and then beat it yet again.  I'll tell you what:  I'll walk on to your sets and gift you with a dead horse so the viewers get a better visual of how stupid this all looks...

Hillary Clinton: Favorite Chew Toy of Press, Political Enemies? Deleted Emails: Asked, Answered, FBI Investigated

Resuters/James Lawler Duggan

From Denny:  The FBI Director said that only three out of 30,000 deleted emails were classified, devoid of the appropriate markings labeling them as classified.  Later that was revised to 100 emails not properly labeled as classified.  After she was out of office those emails were later classified.  Well, if she did not know they were going to be classified in the future how was she responsible for them before their classification?

As Clinton stated: If you  have worked in the federal government and an email is classified it usually has a huge warning heading at the top of the email to let the recipient know the obvious. None of these emails mentioned by the FBI Director contained such a warning heading about classification.

The FBI Director, a staunch Republican, who you know received tremendous pressure from his party to put Hillary in jail, had to admit she did nothing criminally wrong.  Well, at least he had the good character to put the Truth where it belonged.  Did he think her unwise?  Sure. She took responsibility for using two servers in order to preserve her family's privacy both from the press and political enemies hell bent on crucifying her.  She gets it now.

Of course, the irony here is that her server was never hacked or compromised by a foreign state like Russia or China.  Guess who was? ...

Full Transcript, Video: President Bill Clinton: 2016 Democrat Convention Speech: Let Me Tell You About The Real Hillary, Not the Cartoon Version the Republicans Sell

Bill Clinton addresses the 2016 DNC

From Denny:  Who knows you  - as the reality you - better than your spouse?  Well, former President Bill Clinton knocked it out of the park with his version of "the spouse speech" for a presidential candidate.

While some of the younger female commentators took the obtuse perspective and frowned upon Bill's speech as the only way to tell Hillary's story was to center it around Bill's life, most commentators understood what he was really doing with the chronicled narrative of Hillary's adult life once she and Bill met and joined forces to do good in the world.  In fact, Bill Clinton did a great job of doing the Hillary campaign's job for them:  opening a window into their private world to allow the public to know about the evolution of and entirety of Hillary...

2016: Funny Jokes About Hypocrite Ted Cruz Running for President

Check out the 2 new updates at the end of the post! From Denny:  Ted Cruz.  Just the sound of his name makes most people cringe - like screeching nails on a chalkboard.  But he's definitely political theatre.  He's wonderfully entertaining as you watch Republicans gnash their teeth in agitation and fear.  Democrats find him hilariously funny.  Independents, well, we do a whole lot of eye rolling at our house every time he shows up on the news.  Of course, the news networks are talking him up in the hopes his campaign will spend lots of money on political ads for him. Cha ching!

And, then, the next "of course" is that the journalists and talk show hosts were quietly told to never mention that Cruz is simply not eligible to get into the White House because he was not born on American soil - or a U. S. military base - even a U. S. embassy...

Benghazi Scandal: CIA Petraeus Screw-Up, Hillary Wins By Landslide in 2016

Benghazi at dawn
Benghazi at dawn (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
From Denny:  The Republican political machine has been frantically busy of late.  The 2016 mud-slinging is in full swing in mid-2013.  Guess these guys just couldn't wait.

They also saw an opening when Team Obama got lazy again after winning their second term.  It just goes to show if you want to stay on top of the mountain then you had better look busy, pushing hard ahead,  chasing after millions of jobs for underemployed and jobless Americans if you don't want to get knocked off the top of that presidential mountain.  That might also explain why President Obama has dropped down to the 65th position in the Most Trusted List this year.

Hassled Chuck Hagel Won Vote, Starts 1st Day as Sec. of Defense

Chuck Hagel--the new Secretary of Defense-- does a victory lap after trouncing the Rabid Right that tried too hard to trump up a case against him

From Denny:  After a nasty and outrageously contentious beatdown from his fellow Republicans intent on punishing him for publicly disagreeing with Bush 43's Iraq War, Chuck Hagel found at least four Republicans willing to vote for him yesterday.

Stupid Grilling of Sec. Clinton on Benghazi: Funny Colbert and Jon Stewart Weigh In

From Denny:  What was supposed to be a Congressional hearing to discover what happened in Benghazi, Libya when the Ambassador was killed by terrorists - and how to prevent it from happening again - turned into a 2016 Political Showoff Fest.

Hillary Clinton was present for all the right reasons but she had little company from the rest of Congress.  The Republicans pulled out all the stops to literally stop Sec. of State Hillary Clinton from daring to run for President in 2016.

Of course, the Republicans believe themselves to be legends in their own minds, especially Sen. Rand Paul from Kentucky.  This guy bristled as he soundly condemned and blamed Sec. Clinton for "the worst thing to befall America since 9/11," saying, "If I were President I would have fired you immediately."  The Tea Party darling is a lousy politician, thinking he could dance on the head of one of the most popular politicians - and one of the most admired women in American history - and still run for higher national office.  He killed whatever prospects he might have enjoyed in his imagination.  You would think for an ophthalmologist the man could see better down the road than he does.

Other Republican Senators and Congressmen thought this was their huge opportunity to showcase their "talents."  In their minds a grateful nation would see things as they do.  Nothing could be farther from the truth as they literally farted from their mouths they were so foul in their grandstanding, especially Sen. Johnson from Wisconsin, Sen. McCain from Arizona - the Senate's notorious crank who no longer makes sense - and the finger-wagging self-righteous Rep. Duncan from South Carolina.  They all acted like bigoted angry misogynists.  Every woman in America watched this miscarriage of government, rolled our eyes and then turned off to their politics.

Damned Java Hack Causes Blogging Issues, Posting More Soon

From Denny:  To all my friends and readers out there in virtual land, a note:  the Java hack has disrupted the Chrome browser and the Blogger platform off and on for some time.  Availability to post is limited - especially when reduced to using back-up IE browser which handles like a trumpeting war elephant on a college dorm panty raid.

Looks like right now is a good time to start writing. Will see how long access lasts.  By now you all know I'm not the most patient person with sluggish technology.  All hell breaks loose in this house when tech decides to go on holiday or offer whining excuses as to performance.  Maybe some snarky tech scientist should invent Computer Viagra to remedy performance issues.

Sure have a back log of Inauguration posts.  Did manage to watch nine hours of the Inauguration coverage:  the serious, the solemn and the funny.  Sure felt hinky the first 3 - 4 hours about something ominous in the works in the security background - like an increased threat level because of the gun rights nuts - so I kept watching the entire day to monitor the President's situation.

Was well impressed with the many layers of security - and that above and even below the parade route.  I would have preferred though to see an increased to a triple level of Secret Service agents walking alongside the car, and, especially when the Obamas walked parts of the parade route.  Secret Service can feel free to snarl at me all they want but that's my added recommendation to a job well done otherwise.  Nothing like polishing the good to get better, right?

After a few hours into the Inauguration coverage things seemed under control and didn't have to worry about President Obama as he would succeed in finishing the day alive and well.  Yeah, praying for people to keep them safe is always a wise thing to do.  There are many different ways to have someone's back...

Also, watched today the couple of hours of Sec. Hillary Clinton's dynamic testimony to the Senate about the Benghazi, Libya issue and how to solve the security and procedural problems for the future.  She rocked!

Obama Step Aside: Should Hillary Clinton Replace Him for 2012?

Official portrait of Secretary of State Hillar...
Image via Wikipedia
From Denny:  Voters are severely dissatisfied with both the GOP candidates and President Obama.  Because of a rocky economy, 36 million foreclosed homes dumped onto the market since 2007 plummeting home values for everyone not foreclosed (another 20 million foreclosures on their way) - and uncertain employment - everyone is looking elsewhere for answers and real leadership.

The name of Hillary Clinton is on the lips - and in the hearts - of many Democrats disillusioned with the Obama term.  Many women are looking for more women in government to meet their needs instead of the current male dominated politicians playing ego games and stuffing their wallets while in office.
The figures reported are that there are over 150 million employed in America.  That figure is old and wrong, down to about 120 million employed.  The country is in need of 31 million jobs currently in order to pull the economy back from the brink of collapse.

That's right.  At the rate of foreclosures, and by the end of 2012, under President Obama, half of the employed will have been evicted out of their homes:  60 million homes.  All this in spite of so-called help from the federal government.  Obama has done ZERO to prosecute the crookedness from Fannie Mae and the many Bush era contractors, mortgage companies and banks administering these programs.

In short, these guys took taxpayer money and shafted the middle class taxpayers in need.  By now, with the rampant scams reported, Obama should have called a halt to all foreclosures and evictions like he did last year at this time.  Much is in need of thorough investigation.

Yet, Obama remains silent and refuses to get involved, allowing Big Banks to run over the consumers, breaking so many laws it's astonishing.  If he doesn't get on the job, what will happen after he is out of office?  It is Obama and Team Obama who will find themselves answering to a court, suspected as party to the corruption.  Obama may end up our first president to be on trial, that's how scandalous are the crimes happening in our government and foreclosure mess.

It's time for the Democrat super delegates to put some steel into their spines and push Obama to the side.  His complete lack of executive skills and lack of compassion for the struggling middle class is an insult to every voter he demands to vote him back into another term.  His poll numbers continue to decline that is also met with no longer loyal ground troops willing to work for him.

Former President Bill Clinton has been repeatedly asked The Big Question for the past year by anxious journalists and Democratic party faithful:  Can you get Hillary to run in 2012?  Both Bill and Hillary dodge the question, saying it's off their radar.  Hillary wants out of the public sector, desiring to go work on women's issues around the world.  And Bill, well, we all know he wants back into the Big House.  In his heart he never left.

But "What if?" conditions became so dire that the situation changed and Hillary decided to run at the last minute?  What kind of conditions would need to appear on the horizon for Hillary to take it seriously and accept the call, if reluctantly?  Will the Democrats screw up the courage to nominate Hillary at the 2012 convention - instead of Obama?

What would make Hillary the best candidate for president in 2012?  Well, for one thing, she's a woman.  The Democratic Party is about 75 percent female and would rally behind her.  So will older Americans and the very young.  All the demographics that Obama can't pull and never will.

Hillary's speech-making skills leave a lot to be desired (as do mine).  What she has in her favor is a long list that no one else running for president possesses:

* been in the White House twice and seen it up close and personal, as First Lady and Sec. of State
* been Senator and has a network and knows how to negotiate and pass legislation
* been Sec. of State and knows foreign affairs well and has established a strong network
* willing to chick slap Israeli conservatives and other foreign leaders back to their side of the line
* cares deeply about women's and family issues
* is an intensely tireless effective hard worker not shy about getting involved
* has tremendous name recognition and a positive brand
* does not really want to be president

And it's the last item that matters the most.  With all the bullying screaming egos throwing their weight around on the GOP stage and Obama wimping around it's about time a woman stepped up to get the job done.  These men have been farting around with the economy and our lives for far too long.  Everyone has run out of patience for their antics.

You can always trust real power and authority with someone who really accepts it reluctantly.  The person who doesn't want it is the person who will be able to gracefully walk away when their term is finished.

, member of the United States House of Represe...
Rep. Chris Van Hollen Image via Wikipedi
So, now hear this Democratic Party, get Hillary Clinton on board.  Without her, the party is going down in the flames of voter apathy.  It could be another 20 years before you can get the voters enthused like in the 2008 race.  This time the candidate must be authentic.  An interesting effective choice for her vice president would be Rep. Chris Van Hollen, another authentic.

I was saving this Draft Hillary for 2012 post until January.  But after the Team Obama press secretary came out this afternoon with some outrageous drivel about how they are not political animals at this White House, well, you can see the result. :)

Do I think Hillary might answer the call now?  Yes.  Even she sees things are going badly.  Bill Clinton knew it when Obama wanted to be photographed walking with Bill.

Obama looks like a deer caught in bright headlights.  He and his team really don't know what they are doing and now it shows miserably.  You just can't fake it for three years and suddenly think you can turn on the reality switch and it would work.

Everyone knows Obama won't get reelected.  Too many former homeowners furious with him. I've been repeatedly warning Obama about this foreclosure mess and he and his team never took it seriously, not realizing the severity of the huge numbers.  You just can't have millions of people angry at you and think your poll numbers will still float.

How many lobs over the net for the past couple of years does a journalist blogger have to send you guys?  It was too easy for you to turn things around in this country if any of you were actually teachable.  But, instead, you chose arrogance and indifference to the needs of this country.

Hey, don't say I didn't try to help you.  Thousands of Democrats tried to help you, all to no avail.  You didn't even listen to the experienced Bill Clinton trying to advise you.  That was double stupid.  Why would you ignore the advice of a guy who had been in the office?  He knew his way around the labyrinth.

Bill Clinton also has had plenty of time to reflect upon what he would do differently if he had a second chance.  He just might get that second chance.  Perhaps it's the needs of the country that can finally convince Hillary to run in 2012.  If Hillary is still adamant about staying out of the race, then the Democrats had better draft someone else - and fast.

How Do Mothers Fare Around The World?

PRT, ADT women help celebrate Women's Day in Kunar [Image 3 of 3]

*** original post found here at http://thesocialpoets.blogspot.com Photo of International Women's Day celebration in Afghanistan of Women from the Kunar Provincial Reconstruction Team and Iowa National Guard’s 734th Agribusiness Development Team, 8 March, photo by DVIDSHUB @ flickr

From Denny:  The recent Mother's Day celebration does make us wonder how other women fare in the rest of the world. The organization, "Save The Children," conducted a study and ranked the best - and the worst places - in the world to be a mother.

They ranked child and maternal mortality, health care, and education. The disparities were glaring:

Women who die from pregnancy-related causes:

Afghanistan: 1 in 11 women die
Norway: only 1 in 7,600 die

The bottom worst countries ranked:

Children that die before the age of five: 1 out of every 6 children
Women who die of pregnancy-related causes: 1 out of 30 women die
A skilled attendant at birth: fewer than 50 percent
Children who suffer from malnutrition: 1 out of 3 children

How well did America fare in the study? Not that well. We were ranked at 31 out of the 43 developed countries. Considering the state of our expensive health care system and wages driven down to the point people have dropped their health care insurance it's no surprise.

Any good news after these depressing statistics? Yes. Over the past 20 years child deaths have decreased worldwide from a high of 12 million down to now eight million. That's progress.

It's American aid that has helped drive down these numbers by improving the situation for the mothers and children in developing countries.

From Mary Beth Powers, chief of Save the Children's Child Survival Campaign: "The work that we’re doing globally, funded by the US government, is making a difference." Powers says she is worried that America's budget concerns will threaten some of these investments in developing countries and gains in child survival.

Powers says tools are already present to make a difference:

Training front-line health care workers
Training these workers to recognize and treat common childhood diseases
Investing in midwifery schools in developing countries

From Powers: "The hopeful piece of this is that we do know what to do. We’re not racing for a cure, we have the cures in hand."

Last week our State Department announced a new initiative for the world's mothers. It's called the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA). The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has partnered with Johnson & Johnson.

This alliance will focus first on Bangladesh, India, and South Africa. The future plans will involve exploring ways to harness increasing mobile-phone networks and other technology as a means to get more resources and information into the hands of expectant and new mothers.

From Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: "Women in developing countries, some of the women most at risk for pregnancy-related problems, will be able to use their cell phones to get health information via text messages or voice mails, and the information can even be customized for the stage of pregnancy or the age of their children."

Sec. Clinton discussed other improvements in maternal and child health involving the US and UNICEF. The efforts have dramatically contributed to a 30 percent decline in maternal deaths in as many as 19 countries.

"This is one example of where we can really trace US government efforts that have made a difference in the lives of women, babies, and children."

The worst areas of the world for women and children is in sub-Saharan Africa and other developing countries. Yet America is not without problems. We have dropped by three rankings from last year's report. America is behind small poor countries like Croatia, Estonia and Latvia.

What is America's poorest showing in the lifetime risk of maternal mortality? We have the highest maternal mortality of all the industrialized nations at 1 in 2,100. Right here in America a woman is seven times more likely to die of pregnancy-related causes than a woman from Ireland. We are 15 times more likely to die from the same than a woman from Greece. That's outrageous considering our expensive and supposedly great technologically advanced health care system.

How does America fare in children under the age of five mortality rate? Again, it's outrageous where we are ranked at eight out of 1,000 births. We are worse than 40 other countries. Compared to Norway how do we fare? Norway's rate is only three out of 1,000 births.

Women in America get the short end of the stick, performing poorly, in other areas as well compared to other developed countries: preschool enrollment and maternal-leave policy.

From Powers: "We aren’t making the investments that would improve childhood-mortality rates in this country. Our government is considering cutting funding for preschool, and for underserved populations. That’s where these pockets of deaths to mothers and children are happening, in impoverished communities."

Where a woman lives in the world could very well determine her life expectancy and whether she has a good chance of surviving child birth. The discrepancies are hideous indeed.

Norway is at the top of the rankings. There a typical woman can live up to 83 years. She can acquire 18 years of formal education. Only one in 175 women will experience the loss of a child before they turn five years old. Almost every woman can expect a skilled attendant when she is giving birth, helping to ensure her survival.

Sadly, it's Afghanistan that ranks at the bottom of the Save The Children report. An Afghani woman can only expect to experience less than a mere five years of education. The typical Afghani woman is middle-aged at age 25 because she can expect to die before she turns age 45. Only 14 percent have skilled attendants at birth.

And the high rate of children who die before they turn five years old? In Afghanistan you can expect that one out of every five children to die. That means that practically every mother can expect the loss of a child to happen to them.

From Powers: "In Afghanistan, it is still more risky to give birth than ... fighting in Afghanistan."

Write Congress and your President and demand they help the women and children of the world.  Here's the White House contact site.  Here's the House of Representatives site.  Here's the United States Senate site.

Without our continued help those decreasing mortality figures - which we have worked so hard to create - will begin to rise. How can we call ourselves a compassionate nation of moral and religious values if we abandon the vulnerable and helpless?

Poll: Most Admired People For 2010

Check out the most admired people in America for 2010. How do Hillary, Oprah and Palin rank?

How do Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and Sarah Palin rank?

From Denny: Check out the recent Gallup Poll lately? Guess who are the most admired people of 2010? You would be correct if you guessed President Obama as the most admired man in America. Obama, now the 44th president, was listed as the most admired man in America back in 2008 and 2009 too. So far, Obama has risen above the usual iconic religious leaders and former presidents.

*** Be sure to check out the links in the post as it's some interesting reading on their biographies and accomplishments.

Jack Ohman

Most Admired Men

Most admired man by group polled:

Democrats chose Barack Obama by 46 percent, Bill Clinton by 7 percent and Nelson Mandela by 5 percent.

Independents chose Obama by 17 percent (about one-third of Independents are former Democrats)

Republicans, of course, chose George W. Bush first, yet surprisingly, chose Obama as second.

Ever since Gallup began this Most Admired Man Poll back in 1946 it was sitting presidents who dominated the results. Apparently, it's typical for presidents in their second year of office to be ranked as the most admired of any living man in the world. Talk about "go to your head." That must be some heady stuff to wrap your brain around.

How Obama ranked in recent years since his election:

2008 - Americans chose Obama by 32 percent, extremely high for just a president-elect, though that percentage is similar to when Republican President Dwight Eisenhower was chosen.

2209 - Americans chose Obama by 30 percent, the highest for the first year of office for a president.

2010 - Americans chose Obama by 22 percent this year, clearly less popular, reflecting the frustration of voters with his constant compromise and weak legislation.

A religious icon making his 54th appearance in the top 10 of most admired men is Rev. Billy Graham.  That doubles the number President Ronald Reagan showed when he was in the top 10.  His score was 31 appearances.

President Jimmy Carter was not named for the past two years but showed up in this year's poll for his 27th appearance.  He tied with Pope John Paul II for the third all-time.

Most Admired Women

Who is the most admired woman for her ninth consecutive year?  Hillary Clinton.  She has dominated the Most Admired Woman title for much of the the past two decades.  She has to her credit 15 times she has ranked as number one on this poll since she first appeared on it back in 1992.

Other notables on this year's list?  The same as in 2009 (not in order of ranking):

Queen Elizabeth II
Sarah Palin
Oprah Winfrey
Michelle Obama
Condoleezza Rice

Women most admired by group polled:

Democrats chose Hillary Clinton by 31 percent, Oprah Winfrey by 13 percent, Michelle Obama by 10 percent.
Independents chose Hillary Clinton by 15 percent, Oprah Winfrey by 10 percent and Sarah Palin by 7 percent.
Republicans chose Sarah Palin by 26 percent, Oprah Winfrey by 8 percent and Hillary Clinton by 5 percent. (Remember, Hillary was a registered Republican in her youth, "a Goldwater Girl," later changing to Democrat when she married Bill Clinton)

Queen Elizabeth II has appeared in the top ten of the  poll for 43 times, the highest record for any woman.  Oprah Winfrey hasn't done bad for herself either.  She consistently polls in the top ten, around second or third, for every year since 1997.  She has always been ranked somewhere in the top ten since 1988, a tribute to the longevity of her popularity, though she has never placed as number one.

What do these First Ladies all have in common:  Eleanor Roosevelt, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Hillary Clinton?  All share a strong popularity long beyond their husband's presidencies.  Of course, Hillary Clinton has done many "firsts" like she was the first former First Lady to run for Senator and won. Clinton was the first First Lady to run for President, and was the first First Lady to become the Secretary of State.  Definitely a memorable career that will keep the history books talking for centuries.

Over the years of this poll of most admired women it is First Ladies who figure prominently in the top three spots during their White House tenure.  Unlike their husbands they do not seem to garner the top spot.  The only First Lady to win that top spot has been, you guessed it, Hillary Clinton.  She experienced six number one rankings during Bill Clinton's two terms as president.

How did Nancy Reagan do on the list? She achieved the top spot for three times during her husband's two terms.  What about Barbara Bush?  She soared to the top spot twice during her husband's one term.  What about Rosalynn Carter?  She either tied for first place or won the top spot during three years of her husband's single term.

Top overall ranking?  No one has won it since Laura Bush did back in 2001, the year of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in New York City.

What about First Lady Michelle Obama, how is she faring?  Apparently, not well, turning in a single digit performance.  Perhaps she is overshadowed by her husband?  Her numbers are on the low side compared to most First Ladies, though Obama's  are as low as Laura Bush's for most of her husband's presidency.  Rosalynn Carter also experienced low numbers during the first year of her husband's presidency.

One explanation for low numbers turned in for Michelle Obama is because most Democrats give higher mentions to Hillary Clinton, someone with a longer and larger body of public work.  Michelle Obama also trails Oprah Winfrey in mentions among Democrats.  Winfrey is also another long term powerhouse in the public domain.  It will be interesting to see Michelle Obama decades from now as she adds to her current public works.  Tackling childhood obesity and diabetes is an admirable goal.  And reintroducing fellow Americans to good nutrition as an alternative to fast food is a tough sell too.  Michelle Obama, like many first ladies at this point in their husband's terms, is still in the early stages of carving out a niche for herself.

This USA Today/Gallup poll surveyed 1,019 adults over the age of 18, using random sampling from 10-12 Dec 2010.

From Denny:  This week North Korea shelled a small island, Yeonpyeong Island, off South Korea for three hours.  After the relentless and merciless shelling, the islanders evacuated.  This weekend, North Korea shelled the island yet again - only this time there were no people left to harm.
