Hey, DNI Clapper: Demand Agency Heads Change Profile of IC Hiring To Get Real Productivity

nsa_eye.jpg

From Denny:  Listen, Clapper, if your intelligence agency heads keep sending you the same profile over and over, as they have been doing for some time now, quit getting angry about it and just fire their lazy asses.  They are still operating on the outmoded and unsuccessful game plan of Andrew Marshall who seriously F'd up both the military and intelligence communities for the past 60 years.  The Andrew Marshall idea was to hire just the very young, because, he reasoned, they were the easiest to fool and the easiest to control both mentally and physically.  Seriously?

You just can't keep hiring young IT people.  Young people don't belong in the ugly intelligence business.  IT people are the worst choice because they have rarely developed any people skills.  That isn't how their brains move in real time. They certainly don't have much life experience yet either.  The skills they do have for technology is great but you only need a handful of them compared to requiring legions of critical thinkers, and, yes, to a lesser extent, some analytical thinkers.

The field you should be looking at are the Baby Boomers and older.  What a shocking revelation?  That's right; you should be pulling from the 55 - 85 age group, as long as their minds are sharp.  You can teach IT skills to most of them who would be delighted to learn it.  Many of them are either underemployed and bored or outright retired and bored, wanting new challenges.  And, guess what, they would not be frittering away their days collecting dick pics and spying on nude celebrities like at the NSA...

Did You Enjoy Yesterday's Cyberattack Courtesy of BFFs Russia, China and Iran?

china_map_under_lens_reuters.jpg

From Denny:  So much for the cyberattack no one is talking about - yet.  Yesterday all communications were down for several hours:  internet, cable, TV, cell and even the old school land line here in Louisiana.  Yeah, those all powerful NSA gremlins are ever so good at handling cyberattacks - not.

The past two NSA Directors wasted years of development focused upon Stupid - mainly watching and annoying other Americans and American journalists, instead of preparing to defend against cyberattacks from America's real enemies:  Russia, China, North Korea and Iran.

Of course, Russia, China, Iran and North Korea are terribly pleased with themselves, believing they accomplished a great feat.  Yet, yesterday's attack that caused parts of the U. S. to just shut down for hours anything not essential (read that as people like me) really didn't do much more than annoy the U. S. like a chomping mosquito on your butt.

The reality is that Russia, China, NK and Iran all taxed their resources to bring about that cyberattack.  And for what?  To register their usual petulance they are not respected and feared as The Great Leaders of the World?  Seriously?  These countries' leaders spend far too much time watching porn and reading fantasy comic books that they don't realize just how ridiculous they are perceived by the rest of the world.

What should be our response?  Counter cyberattacks?  Sure, we can do that too.  But the reckless behavior of Russia, China, NK and Iran all point to something deeper and darker that must be addressed.  If these countries are this annoying while sanctions exist against them, how much worse are they going to become if we are willing to lift any of those sanctions?...

Bibi Defies God To Steal Election: Time For U.S. to Quit Funding Israel?

Photo
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu waves

REUTERS/Amir Cohen

From Denny:  OK, everyone, get as far away as possible from the physical proximity of Netanyahu as you can.  Run.  This man is about to get hit with Heavenly lightning bolts that will burn him to a crisp.  God is furious with Bibi for defying Holy Spirit's instruction to step aside and relinquish power.

Yeah, Netanyahu was praying so loudly to God to retain power that I could hear God's angry reply all the way over here in my writer's cave in south Louisiana, the U. S.  Bibi defied God and declared he was going to take the election in spite of what God told him.

And we all know you don't blaspheme Holy Spirit and get away with that level of crass spiritual rebellion, especially if you are Jewish.  There is a reason God calls the Jews his Chosen People. It's because if you can take the most rebellious folks on the planet and teach them spiritual obedience, then, well, anyone is capable of learning it too.  Bibi seriously screwed up by forcing his will against God's.

Bibi is so clueless that he doesn't even realize he is already circling the drain before he makes his first speech as the "reelected" crook.  It didn't help any that he used racism and fear mongering as a kick starter.  Yeah, that really helps advance humanity on the development scale.  (serious eye rolling happening at our house)

Of course, to ensure his fragile hold on a win, Bibi stole the election because the U. S. Republicans showed him how to do it.  If the shocked and surprised Israeli pollsters are smart they will do some digging and investigation into how this election was stolen because American pollsters "enjoyed" the same experience in the same manner for the last U. S. election ...

Dennys World News May 2014: U.S., World NEWS LINKS:

*** updates daily ***  From Denny:  Back up blogging after weeks long onslaught of Russian cyberattacks on my blogs.  Oh, well, nothing like waiting them out and recircling like a proper yard cat.  A lot of fussing and cussing at Blogger and Google up on Twitter was also helpful.

Nor am I well impressed with the NSA and CIA gremlins still surveilling me because of my vociferous opinions about their police state tactics, especially against journalists.  These days, as a journalist, it's getting more difficult to tell the Good Guys Governments from the Bad Guys Governments because ALL of them are suppressing the Truth from every media outlet quarter, including bloggers.

Of course, you didn't think a little strong arming would stop me, now did you?...

From Denny:  Darling Vlad, you have so placed yourself and your entire Russian people and Russian military in to the international hurt locker.  My Russian Yard Cats are seriously screwing up this time, a royal screw up.

While I appreciate the raw courage of Russians, this is one of those times where undisciplined courage has not served them well.  This is exactly the area in which I've tried to counsel Russia to choose a wiser course against being too easy to provoke...

From Denny:  What the last eight months of revelations about the wholesale spying and collections wrongdoing of the NSA, the Pentagon, Congress, Wall Street, our federal judicial system - in the form of the harsh and devious DOJ, the rubber-stamping secret FISA Court, the weak Supreme Court that appointed said rubber-stamping secret FISA Court, the expansion of odiousness from this Obama White House of President Bush 43's start-up programs have brought to light is the callous disregard for the American people, even the people of the world.  Congress and now this White House are peopled by billionaires and millionaires - too many profiting from defense contracts - making decisions that will impact regular people for generations...

Kudos Watch: Could Prez Obamas Next NSA Chief Be A Woman; Where Would He FInd Her?

From Denny:  There are a few good things going on in our federal government.  OK, not much, but it should still be celebrated, especially when it involves breaking through the glass ceiling for women in the work place.

Finally, back about 1995, part of the intelligence community realized how stupid it was to not aggressively recruit women for development in the intelligence field and maybe eventually grooming them for positions higher up in the organization.  At the time the CIA only felt women should "get the privilege" to ascend to middle management - and never higher.

The natural go-to first line of recruitment started with the children of CIA officers.  As the child of a CIA officer, it was about then the CIA tried to recruit me yet again and again and again.  Of course, they had all the bullying finesse of stinking billy goats and I would have none of their toxic organization.  Clearly, they were seriously clueless as how to recruit smart women.  It would take a lot of time before they got it right.

Usually, the CIA quits trying to recruit you once you reach age 35 but they persisted with me long after, probably because I never have looked my age.  Even after I was married ten years strangers would ask me what high school I was attending.  It's really annoying - until you get older and people half your age ask you about a music group of which you have never heard.  I've learned to just play along rather than give them the Big Speech of true age disclosure that shocks them. Awkward.

Fantasy Fool Running NSA? Just How Seriously Whacko Is NSA Chief Gen. Alexander? Answer: Very.

NSA headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland.
From Denny:  At the rate the NSA cyber punks are going they will have the entire world and all of America confused as to who is the real enemy:  the NSA or the nebulous terrorists.  This self-important loony tune NSA Chief Gen. Keith Alexander should never have been installed as NSA Chief in the first place.  Just how did this guy pass his psych evaluation anyway?  Are the Pentagon and the IC (intelligence community) that bad at taking a close look at the people they install as leaders for any project that can literally affect the lives of billions of people on the planet?  Come on; really?!...

Obama And DOJ Harassing 3 Million Voters - and Journalists - With New Tactic

Señalización de lugar de votación en Californi...

From Denny:  As an Independent and a liberal I rarely take the Louisiana newspapers seriously.  Most of their red state conclusions from the news are flawed thinking at best and so opinionated the facts get lost in the shuffle. Most, like my Baton Rouge paper, The Advocate, are too busy advancing the promotion of scare tactics from the Republican propaganda machine.

However, the facts remain to be seen clearly from the latest DOJ's suspect and downright sinister wrongdoing.  You know it's really bad when I finally write about it.  The DOJ is claiming their need for private information of almost 3 million Louisiana voters - and thousands of  journalists in that database - as necessary to protect the voting rights of the possibly disenfranchised, primarily African-Americans and Hispanics.  And what ever happened to my rights:  my civil rights, my constitutional right to vote unhindered, both as a journalist and as a liberal voter?

The rights of the many are getting trampled in the aggressive effort "claiming" to protect the rights of the few.  It is becoming more and more evident the DOJ actions are not truly about helping disenfranchised voters but something else...

Daily Show Video, NSA Mess Deepens: No-Deliver Obama Chooses Insider Only for NSA Review

John Oliver HyperLoop video.

From Denny:  Can it look any worse that President Obama, Congress and the NSA are hiding something?  First, Obama announced that DNI Clapper would be in charge of choosing the so-called "independent" NSA Review Board of "outsiders."  There was a huge fuss from outside watchdogs and the press so Obama changed his tactic to appear as if he is actually impartial.

He decided not to have your creepy uncle in charge of picking the usual suspects to provide an echo chamber and a predictable outcome report for this White House.  Instead, Obama decided your youngest sister would be in charge of the "independent" review by "outsiders."  He knows he can control what she thinks and says because he is the Big Brother.  The White House Shell Game advances yet one more move, hoping to confuse the public who really are accurately watching where the pea is hiding...

English: President George W. Bush and President-elect Barack Obama meet in the Oval Office of the White House Monday, November 10, 2008. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

From Denny:  Like President Obama was warned when coming into his first term by outgoing President Bush 43, "Somewhere, every day, there is someone screwing up in the federal government."  Truer words could never have been spoken.  Who knew Bush was a government prophet?

For decades there have been serious problems going on at the Veterans Administration.  Along comes a new President and he throws a healthy extra billion dollars at the VA to fix the current problem, and, you guessed it, taxpayers are not getting their money's worth.

What it amounts to is that basically two greedy battling tech competitors set about to screw over 900,000 disabled veterans in desperate need of medical treatments and surgeries.  Does the insane and depraved indifference of greed never stop?  It's shameful what is happening over at the VA.

What to Do With China Stealing Business and State Secrets

Figure 6. Medium and Intercontinental Range Ballistic Missiles. Newer systems, such as the DF-31, DF-31A, and JL-2, will give China a more survivable nuclear force. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

From Denny:  For generations of Westerners China has always been a place of intrigue, deception and manipulation of the truth.  Well, face North and smell the coffee, folks, because it isn't going to change any time soon - so it's time that governments and Big Business learn to deal with it.

For the past two years in particular the world has been complaining about how aggressive China is in ferreting out state secrets and business secrets via cyberattacks.

They also have started specializing in attacking American news media outlets, even tiny niche journalist bloggers like me.  Guess I should feel more "special" than annoyed? America thinks that calling China out into the open about the issue will shame them into stopping.  How ridiculous can you get?  Don't you understand these people?

Ouch Outrageous Obnoxious and Odd: Why Russians Dashboard Cams Catch So Many Funny Things: From Denny:  When you live in a police state country, stuffed to the gills with corrupt police and politicians, the average Russian takes measures to get the record straight.

Come on; it's common global knowledge the old Cold War intelligence community - the dreaded ruthless KGB - and the current Russian drug cartels basically run Russia, though the public is demanding serious reform. The average Russian knows...

Damned Java Hack Causes Blogging Issues, Posting More Soon

From Denny:  To all my friends and readers out there in virtual land, a note:  the Java hack has disrupted the Chrome browser and the Blogger platform off and on for some time.  Availability to post is limited - especially when reduced to using back-up IE browser which handles like a trumpeting war elephant on a college dorm panty raid.

Looks like right now is a good time to start writing. Will see how long access lasts.  By now you all know I'm not the most patient person with sluggish technology.  All hell breaks loose in this house when tech decides to go on holiday or offer whining excuses as to performance.  Maybe some snarky tech scientist should invent Computer Viagra to remedy performance issues.

Sure have a back log of Inauguration posts.  Did manage to watch nine hours of the Inauguration coverage:  the serious, the solemn and the funny.  Sure felt hinky the first 3 - 4 hours about something ominous in the works in the security background - like an increased threat level because of the gun rights nuts - so I kept watching the entire day to monitor the President's situation.

Was well impressed with the many layers of security - and that above and even below the parade route.  I would have preferred though to see an increased to a triple level of Secret Service agents walking alongside the car, and, especially when the Obamas walked parts of the parade route.  Secret Service can feel free to snarl at me all they want but that's my added recommendation to a job well done otherwise.  Nothing like polishing the good to get better, right?

After a few hours into the Inauguration coverage things seemed under control and didn't have to worry about President Obama as he would succeed in finishing the day alive and well.  Yeah, praying for people to keep them safe is always a wise thing to do.  There are many different ways to have someone's back...

Also, watched today the couple of hours of Sec. Hillary Clinton's dynamic testimony to the Senate about the Benghazi, Libya issue and how to solve the security and procedural problems for the future.  She rocked!

2012 DNC Speech: President Bill Clinton Sets The Base On Fire

English: Official Presidential Portrait of Uni...
English: Official Presidential Portrait of United States President Bill Clinton commissioned by the United States government for display in the White House. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
From Denny:   Former President and senior statesman, Bill Clinton, rocked the house!  The new polls are out and it looks like Bill Clinton did a better job of framing the Obama message than Obama's political people did in four years.

Clinton has also convinced people to basically forget about what Obama has or has not done and instead pay attention to what the Republicans will take away from you.  As a result there are not many undecided voters left after Bill Clinton got a hold of them. :)

Of course, the Obama political hack, David Axelrod, actually tried to take credit for the Clinton speech.  Oh, come on; Bill Clinton is notorious for handing in prepared speeches to the press and then spends half his delivered speech off the cuff.  Bill Clinton did just that. Someone go tell Axelrod to go stand in the corner.  What a putz.

This is the complete rousing speech from C-SPAN.  This version contains plenty of footage of the crowd to gauge a better take on the atmosphere for the speaker.  Take a listen as there are not too many orators that come along like this in one lifetime:

Funny Satan's Calling iPhone Snap Case
Funny Satan's Calling iPhone Snap Case
Enjoy a campy Halloween all year round: Satan's calling: don't answer...

*** T-shirts available in this design ***

From Denny:  Check out some campy fun for Halloween!  I double dare you to answer the door to the little kiddies when you give out candy this year.  It's witty; it's fun and not too creepy for the faint of heart.

It's sure to get a laugh out of the parents standing behind their kids on the sidewalk on the Halloween Candy Walk through the neighborhood.  Definitely an alternative to the typical costume or
hours of spooky makeup.  Sport this funny phone design (or the many t-shirt designs too) at those special holiday parties - or make it your motto year round.

How did I come up with this design?  We just got through Hurricane Isaac here in Louisiana and I sure had plenty of time to think creatively while I was off the grid for a few days.  You can read about my experience in this post on my political blog.

Hurricane Adventure: Cooking by Candlelight on the Bayou

Also, at our house when the husband gets just a little too demanding and obnoxious he gets called "Satan."  He loves the moniker.  He really is behaviorally challenged on a regular basis. There are those days when I'm tempted to let him run out and play in traffic.  This moniker is his cue to dial it back when I've had enough. He enjoys the scathing satire so much he gets back to nice - at least for a while... you know how Satan does.

So, of course, darling Satan just had to help in the making of this design.  After all, it's his alter ego - and we all know what a pride problem Satan possesses.  It's also fun to mock The Biggest Historical Scumbag of all time.  Definitely a win-win in my book!

I'm currently designing over at Cafe Press in order to fund my new charity (Warriors Pearl Foundation, check out the blog) to help out homeless female military veterans.  Currently, the Pentagon does nothing for them and there are only a couple of half-way houses operating (on a shoestring budget) in North Carolina.  I thought I'd donate my time, art and photos to developing clothing, technology, home decor items to raise funds.  Join the cause and thank you!  Visit Denny Lyon Gifts.

Good News: New Jobs Now Tout TVs Made In America

0419_label_630x420
Photograph by Chris Rank/Bloomberg

From Denny:  With 31 million new jobs required to get this economy back on track it's good news to finally see an electronics manufacturer come back to America.  It's easily been at least a couple of decades since American TV manufacturers closed shop and either moved overseas for cheaper labor or, worse, went out of business.

Someone new is willing to take the gamble and hire American workers once again.  These larger TVs are assembled by American workers in hard hit Detroit, Michigan.  They just started up production in March and are competitive with China.

News Links: Occupy Wall Street Protests 1 - 12 Oct 2011

From Denny:  Occupy Wall Street is finally getting the attention of mainstream media.  Europe, the Middle East and Asia are as fascinated with the protest movement as are Americans.  Wall Street and other Big Business concerns like Fox News have tried to trivialize the anger of America's majority but to no avail.

The protests are growing exponentially as more people from all different walks of life and age groups are lifting up their voices in protest against America's "bought government" and demanding reform from our highest politicians.

Check out how the media's awareness of the movement has evolved from first "why take them seriously" to "OMG! This is the real deal!"  The protest first erupted in New York City in September.  At the time the organizers planned to march for three weeks.  Now that the movement has morphed and evolved, developing a life of its own, organizers threw that plan out of the window, planning to march indefinitely.

Jon whines: "Does one failed green technology company discredit the idea of a green energy economy?"

Iran: Gotcha Government Systems With The Stars Virus

From Denny: The Iranian version of Chicken Little is running around screaming that their government systems were targeted again by the West. Read that as "It's America's and Israel's fault. We have been wronged by the Big Bad Bullies of the West."

Iran claims it is the Stars Virus, sent by vicious Western cyberattackers, has infected their computer systems. As usual for this clownish regime, they have not verified any of this to be true - other than the infection.

From Gholam Reza Jalali, who heads the Iranian military unit in charge of combating sabotage: "The Stars virus has been presented to the laboratory but is still being investigated. No definite and final conclusions have been reached."

At present there is no evidence this recent attack on Iran's state systems is on the same level as the Stuxnet worm that compromised their nuclear program within the past eight months. From Orla Cox, who is the security operations manager at a Symantec response center of internet security specialists: "I think it is likely that they were the victim of some sort of infection but it is likely not something special."

Not much is known about the Stars virus in this Iranian situation except that it was trying to disguise itself as legitimate government files.

About the Stars virus from Govind Ramamurthy, MD and CEO, e Scan labs: "We have been recently witnessing a spike in the spread of infection using a new vulnerability in Adobe Acrobat PDF files that has not yet been patched. This scenario combined with reports available on the worm till now makes us think that the Stars Virus uses root-kit techniques and spreads using the vulnerability in files such as PDF via email."

Not familiar with the Stuxnet worm? It's considered one sophisticated cyberweapon   that can take over the control systems of industrial sites like power plants.  . The word is it was designed by American and Israeli specialists though no one has claimed ownership. The Stuxnet worm infected many systems outside Iran as well. But the real prize is how it infected Iran's uranium enrichment facilities at its Natanz nuclear plant   affecting a number of centrifuges - a key component to produce nuclear fuel  . Mission accomplished.

Of course, that sent Iran into a lather, spouting off the usual rhetoric about how everything is America's fault in a feeble attempt to play to domestic politics. They still don't get it. The Arab League probably paid for it. No one likes the crazy bully in the neighborhood. The whole world got together over coffee and talked about ways to deal with the fools living nearby who refuse to comply with common sense, sanity and decency.
