The How of World Hate: 9 Christians Killed For What in South Carolina?

From Denny:  It really is past due time to get serious about dealing with the issue of World Hate.  Black people think it's "just" about historical racism aimed squarely at them.  Well, that's true - and it's also an ugly part of a much larger and more pervasive problem destroying humanity from within.

Hate is like an invasive weed that chokes out the sunlight and dries up all the nutrients and water that gives Life to the surrounding plants.  Think of this scenario in terms of a nation or a religion and the consequences are staggering...

Best Spiritual Posts: Step Out into the Unknown with Ease

Dr. Martin Luther King quote.
Best Spiritual Posts: Step Out into the Unknown with Ease: From Denny: This photo and quote reminds me of the ancient mystery schools where the spiritual path was taught over decades.

Students did not expect to learn spiritual principles in a few months of study. Students did not expect to interact with spiritual energy on the highest levels within a few years. Students did not expect to wield spiritual power until their egos were well disciplined, honed into perfect obedience to Spirit.

A true student of the spiritual path accepts early on that Life is truly a journey. This journey involves the unexpected and the unplanned. Life is not always as orderly as our emotions and left brain sense of the world would prefer. :)

In order to maintain our balance - or regain it quickly - it's important to root ourselves in the present - the Now - and not focus upon even what happened a few moments ago or what might happen in our future...

New Denny Lyon Designs: Funny Halloween Satans Calling iPhone Snap Case

Funny Satan's Calling iPhone Snap Case
Funny Satan's Calling iPhone Snap Case
Enjoy a campy Halloween all year round: Satan's calling: don't answer...

*** T-shirts available in this design ***

From Denny:  Check out some campy fun for Halloween!  I double dare you to answer the door to the little kiddies when you give out candy this year.  It's witty; it's fun and not too creepy for the faint of heart.

It's sure to get a laugh out of the parents standing behind their kids on the sidewalk on the Halloween Candy Walk through the neighborhood.  Definitely an alternative to the typical costume or
hours of spooky makeup.  Sport this funny phone design (or the many t-shirt designs too) at those special holiday parties - or make it your motto year round.

How did I come up with this design?  We just got through Hurricane Isaac here in Louisiana and I sure had plenty of time to think creatively while I was off the grid for a few days.  You can read about my experience in this post on my political blog.

Hurricane Adventure: Cooking by Candlelight on the Bayou

Also, at our house when the husband gets just a little too demanding and obnoxious he gets called "Satan."  He loves the moniker.  He really is behaviorally challenged on a regular basis. There are those days when I'm tempted to let him run out and play in traffic.  This moniker is his cue to dial it back when I've had enough. He enjoys the scathing satire so much he gets back to nice - at least for a while... you know how Satan does.

So, of course, darling Satan just had to help in the making of this design.  After all, it's his alter ego - and we all know what a pride problem Satan possesses.  It's also fun to mock The Biggest Historical Scumbag of all time.  Definitely a win-win in my book!

I'm currently designing over at Cafe Press in order to fund my new charity (Warriors Pearl Foundation, check out the blog) to help out homeless female military veterans.  Currently, the Pentagon does nothing for them and there are only a couple of half-way houses operating (on a shoestring budget) in North Carolina.  I thought I'd donate my time, art and photos to developing clothing, technology, home decor items to raise funds.  Join the cause and thank you!  Visit Denny Lyon Gifts.

Caustic Christians Promoting Hate Endorsed By GOP Candidates

Jesus Christ - detail from Deesis mosaic, Hagia Sophia, Istanbul (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
From Denny:  A Louisiana pastor, affiliated with the Rush Limbaugh Hate Merchant class, introduced Rick Santorum at his church when the Republican campaigned here in my town of Baton Rouge.

Of course, my fellow Democrats across the nation erupted in outrage.  I yawned at the fist-pounding rhetoric reminiscent of Nikita Khrushchev pounding his shoe against President Kennedy in the 1960's.  Apparently, shoe slapping is a popular anger release in many cultures.

Southern Baptist Pastor Dennis Terry said when he introduced Sen. Santorum:  "I don't care what the liberals say, I don't care what the naysayers say, this nation was founded as a Christian nation...There is only one God and his name is Jesus. I'm tired of people telling me that I can't say those words.. Listen to me, If you don't love America, If you don't like the way we do things I have one thing to say - GET OUT. We don't worship Buddha, we don't worship Mohammad, we don't worship Allah, we worship God, we worship God's son Jesus Christ."

Caustic Christians are so far removed from what Jesus Christ taught that I'm immune to their constant propaganda because it sounds like the ravings of a mad man.  Think current mad man like former Fox News conservative talk show host, Glenn Beck, who is clearly in need of medication to restore him to a sound mind.

2012 GOP Taliban: Politically Clueless Gaffes

From Denny:  What a week.  The comics could not ask for better material.  It was handed to them on a silver platter.  And the Obama White House aides are dancing in the halls because they cannot believe their good fortune.

Don't get cocky, guys, it might not last. Besides, there are always the fast rising fuel prices to torpedo what you thought was an easy win.

Obama and the health insurance debacle

President Obama fumbled the health insurance football when it came to the issue of women's birth control, desperately  trying to woo back the women's vote from his own party.  So, he shoved it down the throats of the religious groups' hospitals and teaching institutions.  The stormy political theater all played out without much forethought as is typical of this too political White House that prefers to campaign rather than actually doing the hard work of governing the country.

The Catholic Church's bishops were immediately the most vocal, hoping unrealistically, like a crazed frightened horse running out of a burning barn, to regain women's issues politically into their camp.  Obama received a hurricane level of push back from a wide spectrum of religious groups.  After the dust settled it was revealed that the push back has backfired on the churches and the Republicans.

Updates: Wisconsin, Islamaphobia, Newsman David Broder and Political Cartoons

West face of the United States Supreme Court b...Supreme Court building Image via Wikipedia
Wisconsin

From Denny:  This past weekend 100,000 protesters came out again into the Wisconsin winter weather, committed to carrying the fight to the public court of opinion. While the governor and the Republicans believe they have won they may find they have ignited an Employee Firestorm across America against all politicians.

Recall petitions are gathering steam for the four Republican State Senators that voted against the workers. Another recall petition against the governor is in the works as well, though it cannot be executed until the governor has finished one year in office. Count on it these workers and the unions will be ready and waiting to pounce as soon as the minute past midnight strikes, signaling Gov. Walker has finished his first year on the job.

The workers have also gone to court to question the legitimacy of violating state Open Meeting Laws. No ruling as of yet on that count.

It's clear why the Republican Party has pushed so hard the past 30 years to stack the federal judiciary and the Supreme Court with conservatives they could bribe. What it amounts to is there is no longer any justice in the land for any but the small percentage of the wealthiest among us. If all employees in every sector stick together, unions or not, like they do in Europe, striking as one mass, is the only way to turn the tide of injustice.

Unsexy, Unpopular and Unflattering Political Cartoons - 3 Apr 2010

From Denny: Politics and the economy sure are wearing on people. On top of that all these new sex abuse scandals in the religious sector has people hopping mad and the cartoonists along with them.

Religious Sex Scandal Cartoons

Then there is the bombardment from the negative conservatives in this country: Conservative Republican politics joined at the hip with talk radio and flooding the airwaves with lies, deception and hate propaganda. There statistics are that 91% of talk radio is conservative hate talk and only 9% is progressive or liberal. So, who do you think is winning the war on "the hearts and minds" of the average guy? Hmmmm, a lot of weak minds out there who can't resist being programmed to believe obvious lies.

Yet with the bondage sex club scandal and other sex scandals from the national Republicans people actually are still funding these guys - to do it again! Where does the negativity, emotional stupidity and enabling end?

The same could be said of the Catholic Church. Well, at least one piece of good news in Europe. Austria is a country that has been rife with sexual abuse and pedophilia for centuries. When I visited there I certainly heard plenty from local Austrian women about how much they hated Austrian men, especially the fathers, brothers, uncles and cousins who abused them. It was shocking to hear just how much it was tolerated.

In light of the current garbage spewed out by the Catholic Church to enable the pedophile priests there is a Bishop of Vienna, Austria, who challenges that notion. He is demanding validation and healing for the abuse victims and a change of course in the Church. Well, at least one man has the courage to stand up against the establishment.

Video: Making a Difference, American High School Kids From Chicago Helping Casablanca Poor

From Denny: This is a wonderful story about people helping other people clear across the world. Chicago's sister city is Casablanca in Morocco and has been for over 25 years. These are high school kids who want to work against poverty.

They visited Casablanca and met an astounding local man who is revered by many for his work among the poor. What is most impressive is how much support he has given to young women to get educated and succeed. Now that's not something you expect out of an Islamic culture. As it stands now, the most recent stats have just been released, regardless of religion, that 30% of women worldwide are abused. That's billions of people suffering. The figures are much higher in Islamic countries. To see a man devote so much of his life and resources to helping young women develop warms the heart.

Nietzsche As Funny: Cheeky Quote Day! 20 May 2009

Photo of Nietzsche in 1875, probably before he contracted or showed symptoms of syphilis - suffering the fate of insanity at the end of his life in 1900.

From Denny: OK, who among us has ever thought of Nietzsche as, well, funny? Not many I expect. He was a German philosopher who often contradicted himself and got in trouble by critiquing culture. After his zealously religious Lutheran pastor father died insane, Friedrich Nietzsche soared to new heights as a famous rebel against Christianity. That must have been one psychologically confusing atmosphere growing up as a child with a double dose: heavy religion AND insanity.

Nietzsche’s emotional and spiritual flailing is a fine example of the throes of spiritual development. In all that seriousness, most people don’t realize how many frequently incredible and funny life observations occur along the way! And that, dear friends, is why you keep a journal!

Here are a few of Nietzsche’s wry observations about humanity:

A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.

Whenever I climb I am followed by a dog called 'Ego'.

Not by wrath does one kill, but by laughter.

Insanity in individuals is something rare -- but in groups, parties, nations, and epochs it is the rule.

Love is a state in which a man sees things most decidedly as they are not.

Is man one of God's blunders or is God one of man's blunders?

The true man wants two things: danger and play. For that reason he wants woman, as the most dangerous plaything.

The advantage of a bad memory is that one enjoys several times the same good things for the first time.

The best weapon against an enemy is another enemy.

In Heaven all the interesting people are missing.
