American and World Politics Humor - 6 Nov 2010

Check out the political shellacking my Democrats took this week from the American voters.

From Denny: America's cartoonists have this succinct way of capturing the national conversation, condensed and crystallized into images. Every week I go looking to see what their "hot buttons" are especially in the fields of politics and government.

This week was a troubled one for both political parties. The Democrats were trounced at the polls with their own Democrats turning traitor and voting for the worse Republicans. The Independents abandoned the President and, the two combined, gave this White House a "shellacking" in Obama's own terms.

The Republicans are under the mistaken impression they have a mandate. No, they don't. What they do have is their marching orders to start getting things done for the people. If they don't they will be turned out yet again.

What I found disturbing this week, while watching the news, is the terrified look on the faces of the Republican House leaders. Clearly, they were shaken. Looks like the Wall Street, Big Bank, Big Money, Big Business guys called them up and said, "Look, we have invested billions of dollars in Republican campaigns and attack ads. We now expect you to destroy what's left of Obama and get government restraint taken off us." And the Republicans suddenly realized they can no longer bluff and bullshit their way through this now. They must deliver. They also know they will not be able to deliver. The Republicans sold their souls to Satan and now Satan has come to collect their souls.

American and World Economy Cartoons - 24 Oct 2010

Check out the national mind and opinions of our economy through the eyes of cartoonists.

From Denny: Our politicians continue to campaign for their jobs while they refuse to guard ours going out of the country still at a rapid rate. This month GM announced they were hiring an additional 5,000 new workers. Yeah? Not in America. And we taxpayers still own controlling interest in this annoying car manufacturer. They have the nerve to stiff the American worker with the bill and no job to help pay for it.

American Political Season - 23 Oct 2010

This sure is a mean - and more competitive than usual - political season.

From Denny: This is a midterm election season and it is in full swing like a Presidential election. This year is when the controlling political party gets to redistrict the nation to give one party or another more seats and deprive their competition of enough to drive them into minority status. Meanwhile, it's the voters who suffer from these greedy selfish practices. The Republicans are the most notorious in breaking up Democratic strongholds they could never gain control of to get a seat in the House or the Senate unless they did gerrymander the voting district.

This year, because of the Supreme Court ruling, there are now anonymous donors throwing $20 million checks at the Republicans - and some Democrats - to buy back Congress. It's shameful how the Republicans have sold out this county. No other country in the world allows foreign companies or countries to lobby their political members - let allow buy them for hire.

President Bush sold out our nation's ports to the Saudis and now President Obama has allowed the Saudis to buy up a lot of our Big Banks and Wall Street. It does make you wonder if the Saudi owners are intent upon imploding our economy as a way to take down America through economic terrorism - much to the delight of Islamic extremists. Their mortgage home foreclosure policies are as skunky as their credit cards' excessive usury and outrageous fees practices.

There are a lot of issues to vote about come this Tuesday, November 2nd. Make sure you get out the vote in your area. Register your opinion and let your voice be heard loud and clear - above the din of coins dropping into the pockets of Congress.  This year is The Battle Royal as the voter is working hard to wrestle control away from corrupt corporate politicians.  Help keep Speaker Nancy Pelosi in office.

Oh, those well paid for by anonymous donors political ads:

Cartoons on the American Economy, Crazy World Politics

To our politicians: the nation's cartoonists are watching you... Check out their latest opinions about the state of the economy, the current election season and world politics

From Denny: Early this morning one of America's TV "Moms" passed away - Barbara Billingsley, from the 50 plus year old show "Leave It To Beaver." That crazy show is apparently still in reruns even though the Baby Boomer generation that grew up on it are all now Gray Hairs (excepting those of us who enjoy cozying up to the hair coloring industry). Barbara was in her nineties and still known for her wicked sense of humor. She was a delightful person on so many levels. There is one cartoon referencing the show in regard to the effect on people's lives from unemployment and the eventual home foreclosures. I doubt the cartoonist knew she was ill when he drew it.

55 Cartoons on American Economy and Crazy Teabag Politics

Check out this week's latest political humor from the nation's cartoonists. The Tea Party wins hands down on the most talked about this election season.

Lady Gaga looking spooky for this election season gala where we all will gag if the Republicans get back in control.

From Denny: If the state of the American economy was not so sad these mental Bozos running for office as Tea Party Tea Baggers would be comical. The strange thing is there are actually people willing to vote for them. Which is why there are so many cartoons this week featuring the redneck theme.  (9 Oct 2010)

I always get a charge out of my relatives in the Northeast who think all rednecks live in the South. Talk about a case of regional bigotry. It's bad enough we have racism and homophobia in this country but now it's long held regional culture bigotry. I've traveled a lot of places and if there is one thing of which I am certain:  Rednecks live everywhere - even overseas.  It isn't just an American phenomenon.

Dark Humor: BP Oil Spill Cartoons - 17 July 2010

*** More of the "we are so screwed with this oil spill" political cartoons to enjoy from the nation's cartoonists.

Found this funny photo over at a bizarro blog from the loony tunes Tea Party crowd

From Denny: Even The New Yorker ran a funny from some folks on an oil rig - included in its entirety here - who wrote in ludicrous oil spill recipes to amuse us with their Cajun style dark humor.

I guess we "are where we work and what we work at" sometimes. Can you imagine working out on the Gulf in that mess, smelling those fumes, tasting it in your food, dreaming it while you sleep?

Unsexy, Unpopular and Unflattering Political Cartoons - 3 Apr 2010

From Denny: Politics and the economy sure are wearing on people. On top of that all these new sex abuse scandals in the religious sector has people hopping mad and the cartoonists along with them.

Religious Sex Scandal Cartoons

Then there is the bombardment from the negative conservatives in this country: Conservative Republican politics joined at the hip with talk radio and flooding the airwaves with lies, deception and hate propaganda. There statistics are that 91% of talk radio is conservative hate talk and only 9% is progressive or liberal. So, who do you think is winning the war on "the hearts and minds" of the average guy? Hmmmm, a lot of weak minds out there who can't resist being programmed to believe obvious lies.

Yet with the bondage sex club scandal and other sex scandals from the national Republicans people actually are still funding these guys - to do it again! Where does the negativity, emotional stupidity and enabling end?

The same could be said of the Catholic Church. Well, at least one piece of good news in Europe. Austria is a country that has been rife with sexual abuse and pedophilia for centuries. When I visited there I certainly heard plenty from local Austrian women about how much they hated Austrian men, especially the fathers, brothers, uncles and cousins who abused them. It was shocking to hear just how much it was tolerated.

In light of the current garbage spewed out by the Catholic Church to enable the pedophile priests there is a Bishop of Vienna, Austria, who challenges that notion. He is demanding validation and healing for the abuse victims and a change of course in the Church. Well, at least one man has the courage to stand up against the establishment.

26 Funny Editorial Cartoons - 6 Feb 2010

From Denny: The big Super Bowl weekend match up of the New Orleans Saints against the Indianapolis Colts is in full swing party wise in both cities! The cartoonists predicted the Saints would lose against the Vikings in the NFL Championship and were wrong. Everyone in Louisiana is totally convinced the cartoonists are wrong again about the Saints' hope of winning the Super Bowl. People are practically "wired for sound" around here they are so excited about this team. The Saints had a 44 year drought of misery and to see them win this much is like catnip candy.

The rest of this week's visual opinions were devoted mainly to the President's budget spending and cutbacks, especially NASA. Where the cartoonists really went off on was their anger against Toyota's arrogance in this million plus car recall. Toyota has been declaring customer satisfaction for decades - only now America is finding out they have been hiding the truth about their cars.

Now we find out recently that Toyota hasn't been properly reporting to the U.S. Dept. of Transportation as required by law. Then they continue to insist these same dangerous cars are safe. Toyota car owners need to demand a buy back from the manufacturer as these cars are dangerous to everyone on the road driving near them. Short of that the President better do something serious and fast before this spirals out of control. Can you hear the Toyota used car value falling like a rock? Drive those cars until the wheels fall off or get the parent company to take it back. It's called The Lemon Laws in America.

Just when Toyota thought they would get to surge ahead in the American market to capture a larger share and capitalize on General Motors' and Ford's share of bad karma repercussion slap-back - they now experience their very butt kick.

Check out this week's cartoons lampooning everyone in the news!

Politics of the national budget wars and public frustration over both parties doing so little to alleviate suffering across America:

Finally repealing the Don't Ask Don't Tell mandate which never made much sense anyway since just about everyone but the clueless knew who was or wasn't gay:

Toyota recall debacle that just keeps on giving to the politicians, comedians and the cartoonists as fodder to keep the public stirred up:

Prez Obama cutting back and downsizing NASA since these guys tend to be wasteful and have been for 40 years, treating the national wallet like it's a money tree. Choose your projects wisely and plan a lot more carefully, then stick to it and quit with the budget overruns. Obama's next stop needs to be the guys who build military aircraft:

Cartoons: American Public Angry at Prez Obamas 1st Year in Office

*** The real reason Americans are so intensely angry at President Obama and Congress is because for the entire first year of this "change" presidency they gave away power to those famous for abusing power: the Republican Party and Big Business.

From Denny: For anyone who was naive enough to think the Republicans would let go of power willingly - and choose to cooperate for the good of the country - or that this new President would be able to solve any of the massive problems in one year, well, they were unrealistic. It took more than eight years of Bush and 25 years of a Republican dominated Congress to get America into this rabbit hole and it's going to take more than a couple of good years to pull us out.

At the rate the Republicans are throwing the taxpayers all off the cliff the Democrats had better buckle down and start working fast and furious. Enough of the niceness thinking Republicans will cooperate if you talk sweet to them. Get real. A junkyard dog is a junkyard dog even when you dress him up in a suit.

Get tough and get real. The Republicans don't respect nice. All they respect is tough and hard-nosed strictness like Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. They hate her which means they fear her. Obama could take a lesson from her. Either that or the country needs to hire a dominatrix to discipline the Republican Party. Oh, wait a minute, Louisiana Senator David Vitter probably already has one on retainer. Maybe he will loan her out on a pro-bono basis. Prez Obama and his team have walked on egg shells long enough while real people are losing their jobs, their homes and their savings to Big Business who are taking unfair advantage.

That anemic credit card legislation Congress passed a year ago just motivated the banking industry to jack up everyone's interest rates on a whim, changing all the rules of the original contracts with their customers. And all the banks had to do was send the customer a fine print notification they changed the rules? And you wonder why the news keeps reporting there is a public revolt against paying mortgages and credit cards now? If changing the rules of the contracts is good enough for the banks, then it must be good enough for the customers too.

Who gave Obama this really bad advice about bailing out Wall Street in the first place? Who advised Obama to go moderate on Big Business? Hmmm... "do ya think?" it could be those same advisers are planning to return to Wall Street and want to cultivate some goodwill for their wealthy return? Come on; Big Business is a behemoth that steam rolls over everyone it can. Why has Obama not stopped all those Big Business job visas, replacing American workers when our economy is so fragile?

Yes, jobs loss, jobs creation and the economy is what is utmost in the upper mind of Americans. People are frustrated at where they are in life as they watch the economy slide down for them but huge bonuses for Wall Street with taxpayer monies. One note though: just how many of those same very frustrated people goose-step marched along with the Bush-Cheney duo when things were going well and voted them into that disastrous second term? Those voters should not be taking their anger out on Obama but rather need to kick themselves around the block a few times in the driving rain.

Here's a news clip of the Obama year in review:

And the cartoonists sure have some caustic things to say about Obama's first year. The GO BAMA TEAM sure needs to pick up the pace:

Editorial Cartoons This Week - 23 Jan 2010

Rush Limbaugh Cartoon by Ian D. Marsden of mar...
Rush Limbaugh Cartoon by Ian D. Marsden of marsdencartoons.com (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
From Denny: This week's news was dominated by the terrible disaster still unfolding in Haiti and the editorial cartoons fell in line trying to bring awareness to the plight of Haiti.

Of course, cartoonists - and most of the entire world - is critical of mean-spirited people like Pat Robertson who claims to be a compassionate minister of God and Rush Limbaugh for being so caustic about the Haitian disaster. Frankly, I think both of them, and most of the conservative commentators - and people in general who are so cruel - are really in dire need of medications for their emotional illness. Short of that, they would probably be accurately diagnosed as suffering from acute dementia.

Steroid abuse was in the news with athletes finally ponying up to the Truth or Dare Bar and admitting what everyone else in the world already knew: they abused drugs while playing professional sports. Gee, "do ya think?" their unusual muscular size gave them away? Sometimes, you wonder if these guys ever looked in the mirror. But then, when a person gets off course in life they are usually "the last to know."

Glassy-eyed followers of Sarah Palin are thrilled to know they can get more of her now because she has joined the cast of Fox News as an "expert political commentator." Considering the amount of provable lies found in her latest book I guess she qualifies as much as the next guy for the job.

The huge NBC gaffe of messing with the late night shows' schedules and pitting Leno and O'Brien against each other has finally settled down into a healthy buy-out for O'Brien to "shut up and please go away quietly with the $45 million we poured into your bank account." O'Brien, the injured party, definitely came out on top of the latest ratings now.

The Democrats screwed up what should have been a "slam dunk" win of replacing Ted Kennedy's famous seat in Massachusetts. The cartoons were so good on that one that I just had to do a separate post and parked it over at Dennys Funny Quotes for your enjoyment, go here.

Haiti earthquake:

This really sums up what the American people have been thinking about all week:

Google pulling out of China because of censorship issues with the government and the internet:

Athletes and the ongoing issue of steroid abuse - "juicing" - to gain unfair advantage over other athletes who do not, whether in professional sports or the Olympics:

Sarah Palin on Skewed News (Fox). Guess they thought she might bring up their ratings out of the cellar as Americans increasingly pull away from Liar News:

Wall Street still continues to trumpet their billion dollar earnings every quarter as they continue to fee and squeeze the American people:

On the terrorism front...

The late night show "crisis"
